Active-Sync 3.71 problem

I have had this problem twice now: When I slide the Axim in the cradle to sync it the Active Sync window opens and it starts to sync. It shows syncing but the window closes and the sync ball keeps turning without syncing. If I open the window it does it again and again. The only way to stop it is to un-install Active-Sync and reinstall. Has anyone had this problem?

I've had a similar problem where my AS would not sync. My resolution, however, was that I made sure that AS wasn't running in my Axim's memory. Once I put a stop to the program and stuck it back in the cradle, I got it to sync just fine.

I have had the same problem for the last 3 days, I have to uninstall and re-install the active sync. This is a real pain. I dont get it? It works fine for a day and then it does what you said when I put it in the cradle it looks like it will sync,green circle spins and then turns gray and will not sync. I have reinstalled 3 times

I too swore that not having Active-Sync in memory would prevent this but not now. I did notice it has to do with the favorites folder. If I un-click favorites it syncs all the time. I have tried deleting all favorites from the Axim and then from the PC, nothing helps. But a quick removal and re-install of Active-Sync. I wish there was another program that will sync all I need.

I have reinstalled 3 times. It works then doesnt. I tryed disabling Norton a.v. also my firewall ia performance pro. It is working now but the funny thing is I had those programs installed before I was having this problem and everything was fine for the first 3-4 days I had the unit. Very puzzling??

I am convinced now it is either the Norton or the firewall I use ia performance pro. You can enable them while your ppc is in the cradle but when you take it out and then put it back in it wont sync unless you disable both of those programs then take your ppc out of the cradle and put it back in at least that is now working for me!

I is the ia performance pro . A firewall and other appliction software which buy the way is very usefull to stop pop ups and clean out your system. It must be disabled to sync. You can then turn it back on after you cradle. I suggest if you are using a firewall or some similiar software that this is the problem. Disable first then cradle to sync!!

I have had a problem where Active Sync fails to sync "Out-of-date...Favorites or Tasks or Contacts".

I found this fix here on AximSite:

1) Remove the file named "picViewSync.dat" (If you have it) in the windows
directory on the pocket PC

2) Perform a soft reset

3) Synchronize again

This has worked for me twice. Even though a rarely use Resco Picture Viewer, it appears to be updating this .dat file, then reaches some kind of limit that causes Active Sync to fail.
