Error connection to network message

I am getting an error that my X3i can't connect to the network with my current settings. This error happens about every 9-10 minutes. The problem is that it is occuring even when I have Wifi turned off and it is draining my battery.

It occurs all night long so the X3i wakes up gets this message and then waits for a minute and turns off. This in 9 more minutes it does it again. I went to be with my X3i at about 86%, when I got up this morning it was down to 24%. I wonder if this has anything or maybe in someway caused my issue I had earlier this week where my X3i wouldn't turn on anymore.

Has anyone else seen this issue? Is there a way to stop it from occurring?

Thanks,
-Eric

I have an X3i and it gives me a window that pops up once inawhile.. says:

Cannot Connect
Unable to connect: You have no modem entries created, and no network card present.

I have my wireless disabled, and I'm using the Dell Switch Bar and no apps are open..

Really startin to piss me off. Just started doing it today.

Yup same message that I get if I am not connected to or don't have in the cradle. Anyone know what is causing this and how to turn it off?

Not sure if this is the solution or not but heck give it a try ... I believe there are some advance settings with activsync in which you can control the syncronization schedule ... It might be caused if ActiveSync is running in the background of the PPC and the unit is connected to PC ... I beleive the default setting is continuouse ... If this is the case I think the PPC might be trying to synchronize every now and then ... Mine is currently set as manual. Well let me know if this was the solution or not.

hey, just want to inform some people about this. Heard a lot of people where getting this issue else where, so this is what I have discovered. The defualt settings for syncing are usually fine and this wasn;t causing my problem. I was getting the message every 15 minutes actually, and it was my damn email! i had it set to automatically check it every 15 minutes, totally forgot about it. Ever since i turned that off, its been fine. Maybe you overlooked that.. give it a shot.

Hello,

This is my first post here. Glad I found this site... and what do you know, a topic has already been started about the problem I'm having.

I just got the X3i, and it's my first PDA. So I'm having a bit of trouble with all the ins and outs.

I'm getting that warning popping up to. It's everytime I turn on the unit, and from there maybe about every 15 - 20 minutes.

I have WiFi turned OFF, and Infra-red turned OFF.
I have yet to setup an email account on the Axim, as I don't have a wireless router yet. It just syncs with Outlook on my desktop.

Active sync is always running it seems. Even if I manually close it, turn the machine off/on, it's back running again.

So, if it's not my email that causing the problem, what could it be? If it's Active Sync, how do I disable it, or set it to only try to connect with my desktop when it gets plugged in?
Do you think that will fix this problem?

Thanks a bunch.

In ActiveSync on the PPC, check Tools, Options, Mobile Schedule (tab) and make sure the "When syncing wirelessly" options are each set to manual.

Has anyone figured this out? I am having this problem with my new X5. I am getting the "Cannot Connect" warning every 30 seconds or so.

Did you check the ActiveSync settings and the email settings? If you have an email account set to download at regular intervals, it will try to connect. The solution I found was to select ActiveSync as the account from the Inbox account list when you are not actually connected.

I removed the Inbox from my Activsync options and noticed the problem dissapeared, confirming there must be something in the ActiveSync options causing this behavior. I did check the Activsync settings and everything was set to manual. Where do you select Activsync as the account from the Inbox account list?
