Activesynch re-install

Tried to get the Toshiba bluetooth card to work on x3i. No go.
Anyway that is not the problem. In the process I uninstalled Activesynch. Now I cannot reinstall it !! I keep getting the message ;
MS\ACTASYNC\MAIN\core\inf\WCEUSBSH.CAT (Copy error-1)
Please restart PC.
I have tried the microsoft site and apparentely this is an administrators group problem ?? There are no solutions given save to add the user account to the group ? This is my home pc
(I can synchronize without a problem at work) and I had the synch. working perfectly well before.
Any suggestions ?

I would go into your program folder and delete the activesync folder. Then try reinstalling the program.

I would try to use file explorer, and find any entries with ActiveSync, then remove them. If that doesn't work try to edit the registry and remove any entries for ActiveSync.

I have deleted the active synch folder, no go.
I then used the file explorer but didn't find any entries with activesynch. This may sound daft but how do I edit the registry ? Also, should I delete all programs on the desktop which are linked to the axim ?
