Life will be much better for you if you get an external card reader/writer for your desktop.

If you are considering getting another SD card, you might consider getting a SimpleTech Bonzai instead. You can get the reader and an SD card cheaper than buying them seperately.

I use the Lexar JumpDrive Trio for my sd cards. It works great!! Mine came from Wal Mart, but they're available from most places which sell computer and digital cameras and extras. Mine cost $17.95. I later saw it at CompUSA for $15.95.

I also use the Lexar JumpDrive Trio for transfers. I find it useful because my laptop is USB 2.0 and so is the Trio.

I use the Lexar Multi-Card USB 2.0 reader since I use SD, CF, and SonyMS.

Yup, if you have USB2 ports on your computer, be sure to get a USB2 card reader... I got a cheapo generic USB2 6-in-1 multiformat card reader (www.7dayshop.com - think they only ship to the UK though), and it does the job quickly and was only about £14... plus it reads any other type of memory card you might have.

definitely worth getting, using the usb link to the axim to transfer large amounts of files is deaaaaaad slow compared.

I'm looking to get an internal one myself instead of having another usb item laying on my computer desk. Newegg.com has a mitsumi internal card reader, but it costs more than the external versions. My how things have changed.

aye it's daft isn't it... having said that, mine technically is an external one, however it's about the same width as a 3.5" drive bay, so i've kinda attached it into a 3.5" bay in place of a floppy drive (I have however got a floppy drive mounted internally - long story involving certain HDD controller drivers needed to install windows)... few pieces of metal screwed around it and it fits like a dream - and half the price of the internal ones for reasons I can't understand.

copied and pasted from my original post:

I was going to buy a sd memory card writer but I figured out a way to save $25-$30. I used my mustek dv4000 as a card writer. Most digital cameras when connected to usb will come up as a removable drive in my computer. So I opened up the removable drive folder and and put a few mp3 files in it. Then I took the memory card out and put it in my x3 and they worked fine in Windows Media Player. I tested the digital camera and it still works fine. So im guessing it will work fine with any digital camera with a usb connection and a CF or Sd card. I would back up all the files on the digital camera before trying this just in case.

I would have to agree with jncoboy42. I just use active sync explorer. Your CF and SD card should show up as storage cards when you click on them you should be able to see all the contents. I know this is true for CF cards but I'm not sure about SD card, I haven't used one yet.

Well, jncoboy42 isn't talking about using ASync, at all.

He's saying to use your Digital Cameera as a Card Reader/Writer......which is undoubtedly MUCH, MUCH faster than ASync.

Just about anything would be faster than ASync, unless you are using ASync via WiFi.........that's PDQ!

But I find a Reader/Writer to be the best way to go. I also use a PCMCIA to CF adapter.......and a CF to SD adapter inside of that on my laptop. I just leave the whole thing in the PCMCIA Slot, until I need it.

yea, i would agree with you. MP3s and pictures would take a long time compared to a reader. I should have been more specfic in regards to moving documents. I have moved MP3s before using active sync and no doubt i would have prefered a faster option. However, budget is limited. $25 here $35 there and before you know it you have more in a PDA than a computer!
