I've had my Axim X3i for 5 mins and already i have a question.....

Hi

I'm currently chrging my x3i for the first time (it says at least 4 hours) but on the protective pouch which the x3 came in it says

Quote:

while charging your device the first time, you MUST press the power buttonto charge the backup battery.
but it doesn't say anything about this in the manual, is this right.

I have placed it on charge in the cradle and the power button was orange, i have pressed the power button and the Windows press tab here to strat page has come up, but dims down after about 10 mins, is this right or should i turn it off and wait the 4 hoours before turning it on again?

thanks in advance

you should go ahead and leave it turned off while charging, or continue with the intial setup then turn it off to charge. Pressing the power button connects the backup battery, that's why you must press the power button.

I quickly set up the screen and the time and then just turned it off to let it charge.

I want to let it charge over night but i really want to play with it :D

I had the same problem...(just got mine yesterday)
I charged mine for 4 hours but it forced me to stop playing with it after just 10 mins because of low backup battery

Yeah, I was confused about the back-up battery too. Charged mine for 4 hours, turned it on and it soon complained about the backup battery. I left it overnight and it was fine. The book is completely cr*p - doesn't say anything about it! I guess if you have to turn it on first then it worked for me coz I'd tried to play with it. Shame Dell can't get the documentation right eh! Thank goodness for this forum!
