Overclocking an X3i

Is there a way to overclock the Pxa263 400mhz processor found in the Axim X3i? I have noticed that some X5 users have reached 500mhz successfully with their 255s but I am not sure.

Sure, there are several tools for this task. Just use the search function and it will provide you with several threads. I use XCPUScalar but there are also other tools.

i use turbotray, very easy to use... just do a google search for turbotray and you'll find it very fast... it's freeware and clocks your x3 to 498 mhz

Hmm, sounds interesting but has anyone had problems with afreezing pda after overlocking it or is the pda getting noticable hotter? And how much is the performance win?

Aren't there any side-effects? What about heat and energy consumption?

battery drain is heavy.. heat is not an issue since these cpus run very low voltage.

a 400mhz xscale is pretty much guaranteed to hit 500mhz

xcpuscalar and xcpuctrl are the best imho
