I currently have a toshiba e355 and want to upgrade.... the thing i really like about the e355 is that its SUPER thin (.4") and what i would do is slip it in my back pants pocket (inside leather case) and carry it like that... im thinking the x3i isnt too thick.. so this should be possible... but what bout the headphone jack? I also listen to my e355 as a mp3player while in my back pocket... but the x3i has the jack on the side would this obstruct a fit? can anyone try this? pics?
I carry my X5 in my Shirt Pocket (with a Mugen 3800 Battery) and the X5 looks a beast when compared to an X3. So I'd say the X3 is certainly pocketable.
You could look for headphones with a right-angle jack, or replace it with one yourself.
Though I must warn you, the "wires" they use in headphone cords in nigh-on impossible to solder.

How tight are your pants!?!?!?! While I have an iPod to listen to music, I have put my X3i in my front pockets from time to time. I would assume that the jack on the side isn't a big deal if you have a right angle headphone jack (seems most are these days).

yes but your comparing to an x5.. the BRICK! Have you ever tried a toshiba e300/e400 series? the x3i feels like a beast
Like any & all of us here, I always cruise by the PDA displays when in any electronics store, and to be honest with ya, all these "ultra-thin-anexoric-super-model" PDAs just don't do anything for me. I've got pretty big hands and they're just too featherweight for my liking. I had an HP548 and now the X5 and they are both much more to my liking.
Now, if you want to talk about "ultra-thin-anexoric-super-model" MODELS............well, that's another thing altogether!

I had a Toshiba e400 for about a week. It is certainly thin and light. However, the length and width are considerable. I much prefer the Ipaq 1940 form factor. I have an X3 coming in a few days... I'll let you know how the 3 compare. If the X3 is too big, I'm going with the 1940.
One other thing... the stylus on the e400 is HORRIBLE. It is telescopic, and VERY tiny. Uncomfortable to use.
The only cool things about the e400 are the voice command thing (which works 75% of the time), the text reader (very cool), and the 32 megs storage space. Oh yeah, the Toshiba Home application is very useful as well.
As for the case being metal, the case didn't really look like it was metal, but it would get cold to the touch sometimes as though it were in fact metal. The black plastic part above the display looks cheap. I've seen 3 of them, and the edge on the plastic looks rough and uneven, like it's been abused or poorly manufactured.
It's not bad, but the price is too high (at least here in Canada) for what you get.
I carry my x3i in my pocket (front or rear or jacket) in a Rhino case and have yet to find it a bother. Out of the case, I doubt i would notice it at all!
I just got my 3X advance and the "feel" is so very different...muchl ighter, does feel a bit "cheaper" so I'll likely get a solid case for it....but I do throw it in my back pocket 80% of the time and haven't noticed any problem...the good news....my pants no longer sag due to the weight of my Ax!
