Quick question before i order...

could someone tell me if the Axim X3 with the 300MHz processor performs better, about the same, or worse than the X5 400MHz (with pxa255 and PPC2002)...

if ur not for sure at least leave some comment...thanks!!

I'm not sure, but I'd think that the 300Mhz would be slower. It's still a StrongArm processor, so any performance increase even at the same speed (400Mhz for instance) would only be marginal.

However... I want the x3i because it's so much lighter and thinner than my x5.

i have just heard that the 400mhz x3 performs like between 3x-6x better than the 400MHz X5

so i just figured the 300MHz x3 would at least be on the same plain as the 400MHz x5...

The only improvement in speed is on graphic-intensive applications, like emulators and DVD viewing.

Overall speed though, the 300MHz X3 will be slower than a 400MHz X5.

so playing an NES emulator will be about the same on either one?

As I do not have an X3 300MHz (I have an X3i 400MHz), I cannot say for sure about the emulation aspects of it. But my guess is that yes, it would be around the same.....although the X3 might get a little better framerate just because of the better graphics processing. If you are serious about emulation/gaming/etc though, you'll likely want the 400MHz X3.

Or if you are REALLY serious about emulation, you might want to buy a 2Ghz desktop PC. :P

Been there, done that. For NES emulation, the x5 Advanced seems to work fine speedwise. The emulators that are out there aren't perfect and it is in need of a better gamepad, but RPGs are awesome to play in class as they don't require constant attention. (I managed to finish my MBA despite playing Dragon Warrior in class.) :P
