remote desktop control
i was just recently reading specs for an axim x5 on ebay that someone was offering for sale, and to cut a long story short, it mentioned about controlling a windows desktop (xp) using the axim via remote desktop control.
is this option available for the x3i, coz i seem not to be able to find it yet, is it there or not, is it there, does anyone know how to take control of an xp pc via the axim, using remote control access.?

There's a version of VNC for ppc.
I'm working on an app that is more simple, say sending keystrokes to a selected window (mainly so that I have a remote control for the DVD software on my laptop). It's a long way from doing anything useful though.
Also, try searching this forum. It's a topic I've seen much discussion on.
EDIT: If you have xp pro you can somehow use Terminal Server too.

The terminal services client that comes with WM2003 is the better way to go if you have Windows XP on yor desktop. It is easy to setup and works better than VNC. Check the help on XP for how to turn on remote desktop.

Remote Desktop Control (RDC) works the other way around... It will allow you to control your PPC from Windows.
VNC and Terminal Services (TSC) will more or less give you the same endstate, control of your PC (desktop or laptop) via your PPC.
Either way you can go both ways, control PC via PPC using TSC and VNC and Control PPC via PC using RDC.
And all the programs are freeware... FYI though, you need an XP Pro or a 2000 with TSC services installed to connect successfully using TSC on a PPC.

Remote desktop is what Windows XP calls Terminal Services because the average user would have no clue what Terminal Services meant but they do understand remote desktop. The control the PPC from your desktop, you would use something like Remote Display Control from Microsoft (free download). You turn on Remote Desktop in XP by right clicking on My Computer, select Properties and click on the Remote tab. The botom half of the tab is Remote Desktop. Check the "Allow others to connect remotely to this computer".
