Axim X3 Basic or Advanced, I need help
Hello,

First two things, sorry for my bad English, I'm from Spain, and second, I'm beginner in the world of the PDA.

I have a doubt, and I would like that you helped me

I have intention of buying an Axim x3, I don't have clear if the Basic (32mb+32mb & 300Mhz) or the Advanced (64Mb+64Mb & 400Mhz) .

My main use would be to read Ebooks and to listen Mp3. My main concern is the duration of the batteries. I have read that it is possible to go down the speed of the processor to 100Mhz with an external program, so that the consumption of batteries decreases, and I have also read that at 100Mhz, I don't have any problem to read Ebooks and to listen mp3.

My question is, if I lower the speed of the Basic Axim (300Mhz) and of the Axim Advanced (400Mhz) at 100Mhz, the consumption of batteries would be the same in the two Axim?.

or since in Axim 400mhz the processor is already quicker from manufactures, even being at 100Mhz, the battery consumption would be superior to the Axim 300Mhz at 100Mhz,

I say this for that if the consumption is the same in both at 100Mhz, I prefer the Axim x3 Advance, since with it, I would have more Ram and more speed for the applications extra that i can use, in the contrary case, I prefer to have more battery duration and I would buy the Axim X3 Basic

Somebody that uses the Axim x3 only (or almost only) to read Ebooks and basic operations, can tell me which is the duration of the battery, in the Basic and Advanced Axim X3 without using any modifier of speed of the processor?

Thank you, and again, sorry for my poor English.

If you dont need wifi then get the 300 x3 advanced. If you are worried about the battery get an extended battery that will go about 2x from 3 hrs to 6 hrs at dell for 95.00 or at ebay for 38.00 + shipping. Go to ebay.com and do a search for axim 3x battery

I doubt there is much, if anything, between the advanced and basic in terms of battery life, when you're not using the speed of the processor.

The processor will slow itself down to 200MHz on both without any external programs, and taking it down further would I imagine save even more.

I don't know if Dell is offering the same deals in Spain, but right now in the US you can get a x3 advanced for $254. That is only $55 more than the x3 300MHz. If you can afford it I would go with the 400MHz, you will probably find that you will use it for more than just Ebooks and music and the extra power will come in handy.

If you are mainly concerned with Ebooks, music and battery life and not size did you look at the x5 (400MHz)? You can pick one of them up at Dell's refurbished store for around $200 USD.

See comparison
I bought the x3-basic and did a comparison of performance vs price.

http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...threadid=25204

Overall you get about 73-74 % of the performance for about 57% of the price. You have to catch the model you want on sale. The refurbished basics were at $129.00 last week vs $225.00 for the advanced. The price for a NEW basic model has ranged from $179.00 last week to as much as $226 a few weeks ago. When comparing the price of the basic vs advanced be sure to compare the BEST price. It does vary from week to week.
