Proper Procedure

Is there a special procedure which must be adhered to when inserting or removing the SD cards? What I mean is does the Axim have to be turned off or can it remain in the on position?

It could stay on. Just as long as you are not accessing it or the SD card isn't doing anything while removing it, you should be fine.

Yep - I used to turn it off before inserting but it turns itself on when you do this anyway - but I wouldn't want to have anything running on the sd when I was removing it

Just for S&Gs, I started Missle Command (on my SD Card) and popped out the SD Card. It continued to Run until I attempted to Play, then I got this error:

.............and my Axim was frozen. I then Soft Reset without the Card in place and all the shortcuts to apps on the Card came up with the Default Program Icon. (you know.....the little mini-BSOD Icon!!)

Reinserting the Card (And after the Axim's Refresh), brought back all Normal Icons and All (including Missle Command) started working with no problem. (My interupted game was lost, but no other ill effects).

Interestingly, reinserting the card and clicking "Yes", did nothing. However this might be because I had to do this experiment twice. First time , after the Error, I hit the hard button assigned to my ScreenShot App (MagicSS) and it's save-as window appeared below the Error and I couldn't access it.

So I Soft Reset again, started ASync and CerDisp, ran the whole enchilada again and was able to capture the screenshot on my PC.

After another Soft Reset on my Axim, all was well again.

.
.

(ps; I wouldn't have tried this without Sprite Backup +, or Premium or whatever it's calling itself these days!!!)

(pps; I'm in a bit of a quandary here, I'm not sure if Threads with Titles like "Proper Procedure" amuse me or just Piss Me OFF!, I was sorely tempted to reply with the "Proper Procedure" for using a bidet or some such.........but my civil and helpful nature got the best of me............CRAP!, I hate it when that happens!!!)

BUT.........Removing the Card while it's in use, should not cause any probs, either. You just might have to do a
Soft Reset to get back to normal.

In my case the SD slot became inoperative, and no matter what I tried nothing helped.

Might be a difference between X3* and X5....I've got an X5 400/PPC2k2/A04.
