Hi I just got my Axim X3 for college. I know people are going to want to touch it and play with it and all, but I really hate people touching my personal stuff especially if it's this expensive. I'm usually a nice guy so I just let people play with my Axim. But do any of you guys know a nice way of saying "I don't want you getting anywhere near my PDA so don't ask"? Thanks.
sorry...I could plug in a great quote from the movie Stripes but, I won't :)
Just say it like you've said it in here and you'll be fine. Tell them it's too expensive, you need it for school, and it's too fragile to pass around & play with.
My experience has been that anybody that doesn't know how to use it will quickly get so confused they give it right back, and anybody that knows what they are doing won't mess it up. So either way, you win :)
When my brother didn't want anyone touching his laptop he decided to put a nice little password at the logon screen. So when I got my Axim last April and my geeky brother wanted to play around with it, I put a password on it. That way I know no one will touch my axim! And even if they do, they'll be too frustrated after a minute of guessing the password to keep trying.
The problem is they can still get their grubby mits all over it and still scratch the screen. I still say a "don't touch" rule is better :) AND a password in addition :)

I agree with Howard, give'em a quick demo by showing them some features but don't let it leave your hands. Thats what I do. You're still a nice guy for showing them and no one touches it.

Yeah thanks. It's demo or nothing for everyone now.
I just say, "yeah, if I can lick your face first."
That usually freaks them and they slowly back away, mumbling something about having to get one of their own.
