Hard Reset - Data Loss

If I have to do a hard reset at some point what will I really loose? Will I loose all the software that was loaded on the machine from the factory? If so, I do I restore that?

After a hard reset, your Axim will be just like it was when it came out of the box. You will lose all of the programs and settings that you have added/changed. You will have to do the initial setup again (tapping the crosshairs on the screen, etc.) You will not lose anything that came with your Axim, like Solitaire.

You can prevent data loss by doing a regular backup. I recommend Sprite Backup Premium (I believe this is also called Backup Plus).

Thanks this clerifies it for me. What is lost if your battery goes dead? What if you simply take it out?

If your main battery goes dead, then your backup battery takes over. However, you shouldn't have to worry about this as long as you keep it in the charger at night (you shouldn't run the battery below 40% anyways, and that's plenty of comfort room).

The backup battery also takes over if you remove the main battery. I have heard varying accounts of how long it lasts. The best guess I have heard is 20 minutes. However, I doubt you'll ever need to have the battery out that long.
