Battery conflict

I have read that the main battery on my X3i has no memory and can be virtually left in the cradle and always on charge. However, the backup battery is NiCd and I understand that batteries of this type should be allowed to drain before recharging. How do we resolve this conflict?

Also, what do we do when the backup battery fails, as it inevitably will in the furure?

If you're that worried about it, you could do a good solid backup to a Card or your PC, crank your screen up to full bright, pull the main battery off and let it suck that puppy dry. Then Recharge and Restore from backup.

But, personally I don't think there's that much of a concern.

As for replacement.......see this thread:

The backup battery is NiMH which is kinda between a NiCd and lithion ion. You should be fine.
