X3i Charging in cradle

Does the x3i charge in the craddle with out the ac power cord?
I mean just with the USB connected?

Depends on how low your battery is. If it's below 75-80%, probably won't happen.

USB Ports don't push out enough juice for the power hungry LiIon Battery. The AC Adapter puts out 5.4V and 2410MaH, USB can't come close.

So the Axim will try to use it's battery to recharge itself and in so doing it will DIScharge your battery (quite rapidly!), then it moves on to your backup battery and when that's empty......ba-da-bing.......Automatic Hard Reset.
