Transfering/Updating X3 to X3i

I just got an X3i that will replace my X3 Advanced. What is the easiest way to transfer all my info from my old Ax to my new one? Should I just install my programs- like my Biblesoftware- and then just put my new X3i in the cradle and hit Activesync? Do I need to redo any software on my desktop?

you won't be able to just hit activesync, it will realize that it's a different handheld, and you'll have to set up another partnership.

you'll basically just have to set up everything all over again, and reinstall all of your programs. it really doesn't take too long. The only way I know of to do it is to have Sprite software's clone program, which can clone one ppc to another, but for just one time, it's definitely not worth it.

just make sure everything is sync'd to your desktop, put your new axim on the cradle, and start setting up everything, and you can sync all your cal/contact/email from your desktop.

Actually, even though they are slightly different, I think you should be able to use backup/restore. I would use both the Dell utility and ActiveSync. For me, the Dell utility usually works fine (in the Programs list - if you back up to an sd card, you can switch the card to the new PPC and do a restore) but if it has problems, you can make a guest connection to your PC and restore from ActiveSync. Both of these should put all your programs and settings into the new PPC.

If you restore a X3 backup on to an X3i you'll get some weird stuff going on with the wifi activation button - the only way I could fix this was hard reset the X3i and copy some files off it, restore the back up to the X3i then put the files back on... but I can't remember what the files were... they're the ones that the button actually activates - in the /windows directory... I really can't remember where I found them though.
