SD to CF converter

Are there any SD to CF converter cards? Because I heard you can get a usb adapter for CF slots and I would love to be able to convert my SD slot to a CF slot so I could hook up a USB hard drive.

thanks

Nope. You will be hard pressed to find one. Besides, it would be a very awkward adapter.

Well look what I found =x

http://www.hitouchimaging.com/adaptor_d2.asp?lid=330

it is compatable with: Win98/ME/2000/XP and Mac OS 8.6 or above

so I wonder if it is also compatable with windows mobile 2003?

if so I think that is worth the purchas concidering I can get a 80gig USB harddrive for less than a 512mb sd card.

there will be a lot of converting going on though... sd to cf then cf to usb =x I really hope this works... a 80gig hd would be nice to have hooked up to my pocket pc.

if anyone else has tried this please post about it.

SD/MMC To CF Card Adapter: Converts Secure Digital card or Multimedia card to Compact Flash interface
That's for plugging an SD Card into a CF Slot.....not vice-versa.

These adapters are quite common.

If you had a CF slot then you would not need this adapter. This adapter allows you to use SD or MMC cards in a CF slot.

Your question to me seems as though you are looking for the other way around. Correct me if I am wrong but you want to use a CF accessory in a SD slot. This is the adapter that is unavailable. I am assuming you have a X3.

The USB host adapters available for the PPC is CF. You cannot use CF cards and accessories with the X3i. The X5 is a different story since it has a CF slot.

Currently, I do not see a way you can do this on the X3i. As far as large capacity memory you are confined to the SD memory cards. The largest available is 1GB.

.
.

Shop around (eBay is good)..............64s and 128s are pretty cheap.

But by all means, do some research first!

Damn... I'm going to go blind if I have to keep looking at MrKlaatu's latest Signature...

I am surprised that a SDIO to USB adapter, and drivers for WM2003, have not been put on the market yet.

I'm not a hardware guy, but part of the problem may be that the SDIO power is insufficient to meet USB standards... in which case, some kind of an external power supply would be needed -- An SDIO interface, connected to a 2ft cable, connected to a little box with batteries in it, with a USB connector off of it.

After that, LOTS of USB-related drivers would be needed for all of the USB devices on the market to be able to run on WM2003 (or WM2003Se of course). Who would write them? How would they get paid?

Of course, all of this hardware would make the X3i a lot less portable. It wouldn't take long for someone to make a piggy-back case, and then people WOULD be using their WM2003 PDA's like IPODs.

Then perhaps we could persuade Dell to make a cable to go from an Axim to the Dell Jukebox.
