Flight Mode

Can anyone tell me what the "Flight Mode" is. When I connect to a network, it has a place to turn on Flight Mode. What is it?

Flight mode basically disables your wireless access, so in the case you were on a plane, you wouldnt interfer with the equipment by sending out a signal

Why not just turn the wireless off?

yeah its a pretty useless feature but consider this...

if you switch to flightmode it disables the sending and receiveing of the device but does not disable the card, it also takes less time (a few seconds whoop-T-do). i also believe that if u put it in flight mode, it uses more battery power then if you disable it.

I have never been in a situtation that it I have to have my wireless network in 2 seconds, compared to 5 seconds. Especially if it burns more battery power. Why can M$ put in a feature to landscape the screen instead of this stupid feature.

they werent thinking at the time
In mobile 2002 it says disable wireless connection, instead of flight mode... this is just another attempt to confuse us, or they tried to make a useless feature useful by giving it a purpose that doesnt do anything special

Isn't Flight Mode the term used in WM2003 SE? You have that Flight Mode on your X5 or X3i?

Now that I think about it, it is a little different. I am on my 4th X3i, a slew of problems with the other one. Anyway, the circle you get when you hold down the stylus is blue instead of red.
