Question Pocket PC Printing

I am considering getting a new printer and will most likely get an HP PSC1210 or HP PSC1350.

My question is how easy is it to print from my pocket pc windows mobile 2003.

The printer would be hooked up to my networked PC running windows XP professional and I do not use any third party apps on my Pocket PC, I connect to my PC using file explorer and it has worked well for me thus far.

I dont want to work to hard to get this to work as printing from the Pocket PC isnt high on my list but would like to know how if its easy to do.

Thanks!

Hmm

I just upgraded my X5 to PPC 2003 and I went to look for the HP Mobile Printing software because what I had was for 2002 and it was causing my system to freeze and required a hard reset and a reload of my entire system configuration.

So don't try that approach. However, when I went to HP to find compatible software there was a message that indicated that you cannot even get the 2002 version any longer from their website. It had registration for developers only stuff.

I really liked the HP Mobile Printing solution I had, it is the only thing I lost in my upgrade.

Thank you Kcronister! I did a google search for HP mobile printing and it directed me to the page I mentioned in my last post.

I just got done downloading the 2003 version. I couldn't get the 2002 version to work for a long time and suddenly something I changed with my wireless network connection caused it to work and I really liked being able to surf and send things to my desktop printer.

Does it work with Canon printers, too?

It works with my Canon S820 (a newer model) and my Canon BJC-2000 (an older model), so yes, I assume it works with Canon printers.

My printer is no a wireless DLink print server, not directly connected to a PC. HP mobile printiing does not seem to work under these conditions.

I have a similar setup to tstar. A network printer tied to my network with a wireless access point. I connect to the network from my X3i through this same access point. I can access the internet and the files on the networked desktop computers. I can also ping the network printer from the X3i.

i can not get HP mobile to print to the network printer.

Any ideas?

While the software is extremely stable for what I am doing, I have not treid to use a network printer. I currently use a HP 450 wbt. I use it via IR and it works great. I use the 450 because it has a battery so I can print anywhere I want to go. I am telling my engineers today to begin working on the network printing. I will post thier findings.

Printing in this manner works exceptionally well. You don't get the same quality of a print as you would from a full-blown computer since the PPC drivers use only the most rudimentary (smallest) drivers.

Even though you can define the print quality it is still always about 1 step less than a real computer. For me best looks like normal, normal looks like draft, and draft looks like dot matrix.

Some printers look better than others though.
