How do I setup Outlook 2002, and why do I need it to sync?

Hey,
I was just wondering a few things (yes, I did a search :) )

(1) Why do I need to install Outlook 2002 on the PC? I already did on the PC (Desktop) I'm using right now, and when I get my Dell in the mail, I'll install MsOffice XP on it (already have the program), so why does Outlook need to be on the computer for it to sync?

(2) How do you setup an Outlook email account? An old job of mine I used to have an Outlook email, but they set it up for me so I still don't know. Is it free to use, you just pay for the program? Thanks for your help!

  1. Activesync has been designed to sync Personal Information with Outlook. Contacts, emails, notes and tasks. Information on your Axim will be current with your desktop (at least when they're connected)
  2. Don't know about the States, in the UK we have ISP(s) that provide discs (CD). Pop it in the drive and the software does the rest. Normally pay a monthly fixed fee for Internet access and mail handling.
