Troubleshooting "Connected, Synchronization Failed"

I just got back from a trip and stick my X3i into the cradle to sync and charge. It starts synching, "Looking for Changes," but then it says "Connected Synchronization Failed." I have ActiveSync setup to backup every synch all modified data, so it backs up after it says "Synchronization Failed."
What steps should I take to troubleshoot this? (I've soft resetted)

Did you try a soft reset on the Axim and restarting ActiveSync (use Resync)? I did a quick check on Chris De Herrera's ActiveSync Troubleshooting Guide and didn't see your exact description but I could have missed it so you should look through it more carefully.

If De Herrera's site doesn't help then I'm not sure what will. It's the most comprehensive information on ActiveSync available. If I were you, I'd try removing and reinstalling ActiveSync. If that doesn't help, then you may be in for a hard reset. You can always try a backup/restore with the hard reset but it may restore the problem along with your programs/data.

A hard reset might be good to clear out unwanted files and programs lol. I guess I'll just try a hard reset if I can't think of anything else to do.
