Can screen be black & white

I am planning on using my X3i on my motorcycle with a GPS mouse. I am concerned that the color screen will be hard to see in the daylight - it will be in the map pocket on my tank bag.

It seems that all of the handheld GPS units have a B&W screen which is easier to read in the daylight. Anyone know if the X3i screen can be B&W also?

All you would be doing is removing the color, it wouldn't change the "transreflectivity" of the screen. And Axims have no Contrast Adjustability.

If you boost the brightness right up on the X3(i), it's fine in direct sunlight (and will melt your eyes in the dark :D ) but it does drain the battery much, much quicker...
