when i ordered my x3i last week (soon to be returned for x30), it shipped in 1 days and arrived in 2 days. the x30 is reported to ship on june 4th. why such a late ship date? is dell not ready to start shipping them yet or what?

Tell me about it. Three weeks for it to ship. If I had known it was going to take that long to ship one out I would have just bought an HP iPAQ H5555 instead.
From a rating of 1 to 10, I give Dell's shipping system a rating of 2 and their tech support a rating of 0.
And you can just forget about getting anywhere with their tech support. It's transferred to India where the people there learned how to speak english from reading National Geographic. If you ask to speak to their manager they get bent out of shape and say 'I'm sorry, but my supervisor is also taking calls'. So I say, 'so are you telling me you are refusing to let me speak to your supervisor? No sir, I'm not but they are also on a call. I say, 'I do have your customer care ID number that you gave me at the beginning of this conversation. I can and I will report you.' ---CLICK--- They hung up.
I called back and tried canceling my order. They wanted to know why and try and bleed me for more information that isn't even pertinent to the problem at hand. I kept getting the run around and couldn't cancel my order.
So now I'm being forced to buy their PDA. But lets just see what they do when I report this activity to my credit cards' fraud dept. I'll even take them to small claims court if it comes to it.
By the time it's over with, they'll wind up owing me money for the crap they put me through.
I wonder if Dell even knows how their company is getting bad ratings and points from the BBB as well as other sources just because their tech support is incompetent of solving anything of real consequence.
Mine was ment to be hear on the 14th!!!!!!! got to wait till the 21st!!!!! (it is because of the USB cradle thing) but why put it back a week!!!!!! why not just put the cradle in the box. Well I ordered mine on Sunday the 13th and the expected ship date was the 6th. I was very happy because I thought that dell had finally mastered the art of time travel and would be able to deliver my X30 before I even ordered it!
Alas it was not to be and I really have no idea when I will be getting it because the ship date has not been updated.
Honestly if this thing was not so feature packed I wouldnt be getting it.
Spoke to Sales Manager directly today...says they got some supplies problem....so they wanna compensate me with a 64MB storage FOC.....i think all the troubles are worth more than that..this DELL delivery thing really sucks..
