Slow internet connection

Hi Guys,

I've asked a few questions on here and found everyone to be incredibly helpful and friendly. Do Axim buyers tend to be nice friendly people in general? Or just the people who frequent these sites? I've looked for help on boards before and found most to be condescending and rude.

Anyway....

I just got my X30 today in the mail and I've been playing with it all night. I am connected to the wireless router in my apartment but the connection is super slow. I tried messing around with the power saving functions but that doesn't help. (start - settings - system - power - processor - maximum performance).

What else could be wrong? The cable connection in my apartment is extremely fast.

Thanks!

Someone mentioned this the other day - it was due to the battery saving / power saving mode being enabled in the registry...

see here for how he fixed it

hope that helps!

Thanks for the input but I don't know how to edit those commands.

I don't change the power settings as I described? I have to go into the registry?

Is there a link that describes how to do this - step by step?

I hope this isn't a problem in the X30High modle because i will be upset. Keeping wifi power save mode on gives you so much more battery life. I hope this isn't a problem caused by WM2003SE and compatibility issues.

well, i don't know about you, but I never got the battery saving mode on the X3i working on the original ROM without major problems (albeit not this major)... perhaps a swift ROM patch will be released to fix this problem - it's clearly affecting more than one person.

Ya i always had the wifi power save mode working before and after the pulled dell ROM update.

wifi power save mode off= 1hr 30+ minutes
wifi power save mode on= close to 4 hours and later 3 as my battery got used more.

Made a big difference. Now that i have the 2000mAh Mugen battery i shouldn't have a problem. In the battery tests reviewers have, are those tests done with wifi power save mode off? If so then i am fine with it off but amagine with it on :O

Coolidge_guy,

did you ever get your problem fixed? i'm the guy who posted the thread on how to fix it. it sounds like you're having the same problem as i was. i think it has alot to do with what type of router you have. I have had the power save problem (and no, i'm not talking about the processor power save feature when you go to start - settings - system - power - processor, this only has to do with the processor not the wi-fi) with two PDAs so i'm pretty sure it's my router. anyway, if you're still having problems, let me know.

Linksys BEFW11S4

i have had problems with the power save mode on both my x30 and my old x5 and my wife's current x5 both using the Linksys wcf12 network card. this is why i suspect my router.

Thanks everyone!

To Truelove and everyone else who responded...

Wow guys - thanks for the input. Yes, I downloaded a registry program - and changed the settings. My internet is running a lot faster now.

I wish I had some advice/knowledge to give in return!

Anyone need advice on lowering their 800m running times? Or dental advice? Probably not but now that I offerred advice of my own - I feel like less of a knowledge leech!
