processor speed set to auto never maxes out...
okay, so i was clicking around alot today on my x30 mid and playing games and doing alot of stuff at once just to challenge it and see just how fast the 312 Mhz processor is. well, it was running really sluggish and taking forever to do stuff and all that. then i thought i'd check the processor setting. i figured since it is set to auto that it would up itself to 312 when i started doing all that, but it just sticks at 208 most of the time (even while playing some pretty intensive games). so i put it on maximum performance and it ran slick as snot no problems. still nowhere near the 624 beast but dang quick.
so anyway, why did it just stay on 208 when i was doing all that and actually needed the power. when does it up itself to the max automatically? if it's just gonna waste my time by staying on 208 Mhz, i'll put it on maximum performance all the time myself. or i'll have to remember to put it on max when i play games at least.

Greetings,
I have no idea why your x30 doesn't kick it up when needed. Sorry!
I just wanted to say hello to a fellow PPC user in IL...fairly close too...Lincoln IL.
Indecently, when you put it on maximum does it just stay at 312 all the time?...what does that do to your battery life comparatively?

One of the oldest problems with Axims. Basically, Windows Mobile has no idea how much processor power a given app or game needs, so it guesses what speed to run.
Just put it to max. performace when you plan to game, and back to auto when you're done to conserve power.

I've seen mine go from 208 to 312 in the auto setting. I think I was either in Pocket Streets or Trivial Pursuit, but I can't really remember. I was thinking the same thing, never seeing it go past 208 but then I caught it.

I was just about to ask the same thing about my X5 400MHz. Every time I check the processor speed it is 200. Also, I tried to use a couple of those freebie overclock programs, but it seems like the Ax just ignores them.

You have to put your X5 at 400Mhz with the WM2003 software built in and then use the overclocking program to overclock or under clock. You won't be able to see the the difference shown on the current speed status but it will have changed.
Download a free program called CPUID and install it on your X5. When you open it, the current speed of your CPU, bus, memory and such will be given.

:rolling: I should have thought of that !!! Heh !!
I'll try it tonight. BTW, I posted earlier about which free overclock program to use. When I went to the Speed Stepper site, I saw they also have a program called Turbo Tray which seems to do the same thing. Any info on that?
