Received my X30 High today, coming up on 8 hours of charging time and I'm starting to configure the system. I can see that for most of my applicaitions, I'll want to use portrait mode. However, some other applications will be much better suited for Landscape mode:
Internet Explorer
Pocket Excel
Pocket TV
It's a pain to go to Start, Settings, Screen, and swap the screen each time I want to go from portrait to landscape and back again. Is there any way to have the system automatically move to the proper screen orientation depending on which application I launch? How about a program button combination?
You can reprogram one of your hard buttons on the front of the X30 to do it like the home button. Just goto start----settings---buttons icon and change button 5 to <rotate screen>

dont use one my self but try going to different tabs at the bottom of the screen, it may be on one of those menus, probably the system one, if there is one

Try this; click on Start then settings, then on the personal tab click buttons. Highlight one of the buttons in the box then use the dropdown menu under it to choose rotate screen. that should do it.

Thanks, but the drop down menu doesn't list rotate screen or <rotate screen>. Are there different versions of WM SE already?
Scroll to the top of the list. It should be the 5th one down between <Ok/Close> and <Scroll Down>.

You can go to Start/Settings/System/Screen, and the first 'General' tab should have Orientation, you can choose Portrait and Landscape. This will allow you to switch between the two, but I don't know why you can't assign a button to perform this function.
