Backup software

Can anyone direct me to a good backup application?
I am hoping to find one that will allow me to schedule multi daily backups.
I would like to have at least 2 4 backups so that if the last one is corrupt I can recover to a previous on.
Also, one that will allow me to restore individual files, instead of a full restore.
Thank you

Sprite Backup

I haven't tried it myself, but a new version just came out for WM2003 SE and many members highly recommend it.

I fully agree with Gigi. Sprite Backup Premium Edition is a "must have" utility. Its many virtues have been fully stated in several other threads so I will not repeat them here, save to say that one feature in the Premium Edition not included in the Non-Premium (?) Edition is the ability to backup to you PC, far faster and with far greater flexibility the the dreaded ActiveSync. You can also do reliable restores too.

You also get PocketMon (a very nice today screen memory and battery monitor plug in) and Space Detective (a very useful utility) as well with the premium Edition.

Where can I find, Space Detective, and PocketMon?
Thanks

You can schedule daily or weekly backups, but not multi daily backups as far as I know. But you can always do extra manual backups at any time if you really need them.

Personally, I find Dell's included-with-the-Axim Data Backup Util does fine.

One of the advantages of Sprite Backup is the ability to do a partial restore, just today I had issues with my mobile favorites not syncing correctly, so deleted all favorites, popped in last night's backup card and did a selective restore of just \Windows\Favorites.
Don't thinks that's possible with the built-in backup, unless you're using STGViewer, and that requires an Activesync connection, Sprite does not if you've backed up to a self-extracting file (.exe)

Sprite is one of the 1st programs that should be installed on any new PDA.

OK, my 2¢. I agree w/ Davrol about Sprite, the only think that I would add is that the premim version is not essential. I use standard. Don't get me wrong, Premium is great IF you need the other utils that
come with it. When I tried premium, I immeiately discovered that the extras were "duping" utils I already had insalled. As far as backing up to your PC, I backup to my SD card, and transfer the file to my PC wirelessly or via SD card transfer.

If you like and need the extras included w/ premium, excellent :) . If not, start w/ the standard Ed., you can upgrade to premium for $10 @ any time. Which ever ver you choose, it definitely is a must have, no doubt! :approve:

Question

Anybody ever try Sunnysofts backup program, little less expensive than the other?

What is wrong with doing a backup with the Dell utility? I backup to SD card, send the file over via ActiveSync, seems like a no brainer. What am I missing?

You aren't missing anything....different strokes for different folks I guess.

Personally, I love putting my Axim into the cradle, pressing 'backup', and having a full backup immediately transferred to a folder in the "My Documents" section of my PC...but that's me :approve:

Out of curiosity n0m0n, what possible reason would require you to backup your Axim several times a day?

Wax - I was reading about it the other day, and it looks like its features are darn near identical to Sprite. I've also heard good feedback from folks who own it. I would check it out if you're in the market.

Regarding the Dell util - It's very plain jane, but if it works for you, go with it. I've found Sprite to be much more reliable and customizable, and I'm glad I have it! :)

Thanks for the clarification. I was confused, as an Axim n00b, as to the differences. I don't back-up daily, maybe once a week so far, so I guess my free way will work great for me. I agree that if you were doing this daily then something automated would be the bomb!
