I have a ton too but I can never connect to someone else's wifi AP. What is the trick?

I usually get a yellow dot then open Pocket IE, and goto a web page, with no luck :(

well you should go to profiles in the wifi settings and tap and hold on a networks name and tap connect, voila.

My Question is. why is your AP not encrypted and SSID not turned off? We all have to take wireless internet security serious . It might take a bit to learn how to do it but it is woth while. Turn off your SSID brodcast this way people have to guess the name of your AP its not bodcast thats like running down the hall at scholl and yelling out the combo to your locker. second use 128 bit encryption it take 2 minutes to set up. Its people wo have unprotected Wi-Fi that spam gets out and sico surff kiddie porn and you get the full blame.

Caspan,

You are right, thanks so much for telling me.

the thing is, first i like my SSID to broadcast because i want everybody to know levons crib :D

i know i should encrypt with WEP or WPA, but the encryption gives my axim a little trouble connecting, BUT what i did is turn MAC filtering on, which doesnt allow any other machine to logon unless i have their MAC address on the *encrypted* list, so i that'll do it...

thanks for the lookout man :)

Damn that is a lot of APs. I have to drive for about 5 minutes to pick that many up.

^^^Its a program that lets to you view APs(Access Points) that are around. Meaning wireless networks people have around in their homes or storese have where you can access the internet throught hem wirelessly.

It's an application for the Pocket PC that scans for Wireless Access Points, and provides detailed information about them.
