Does your x30 replace your laptop?

I've hardly used my laptop since I got this thing. It's not a 100% replacement but close. How about you?

Not a replacement by any means. There are people who do believe that pda's are laptop replacments. I work with a physician who doesn't use a palm/pda any longer now that he has a G4 Powerbook. I would not be able to pop a laptop open, boot it up, then enter new dates into my schedule, do my milleage, play games, surf for something quickly, etc... with a laptop. My laptop is my desktop too. All my peripherals are hooked up to my laptop. The pda is a compliment to a desktop/laptop. It can perform many of the tasks of the laptop but not all.

i have a X5 adv. and i love it but it is no comparison to my laptop

i still need the big screen for on the road emailing and web site management,
sometimes that small screen just dosent pull it off on the internet

but i must say, it can be a replacement for some of the things i do on my laptop

I guess it depends on what you use it for. I mostly type simple documents and reports, surf the web, check my email, and use it for my calendar. When I leave the house I usually only take my X30 and the Dell keyboard because it does most of these things well. At home though the laptop is a second computer to our desktop. On the road PDA 90% to 10% laptop - at home PDA 75% laptop 25%.

it definently depends what you need on the road like you said, if you only use simple things like you mentioned, i guess your ppc can be a perfect laptop replacment

take it from a guy who sold his laptop with built in bluetooth/wifi for an X30:

NEVER say it replaces a laptop, when i got my x30, i had to kiss my dad a$$ for him to let me install activesync, because without it, i cant install any apps or games, or backup all the data.

small scren is horrible for browsing the net, plus, PIE isnt compatible with %50 of websites, JAVA scripts and flash do not work correctly.

so now im saving for a new laptop, and now im convinced that it does not replace a computer at all.

videos are horrible too (small screen).

but as the fellows said, its a compliment to a laptop, i use it for IM'ing and mp3 playback.

flash actually works great if you get the macromedia flash plugin for ppc from macromedia.com
but i do understand what you mean, it is a small screen, there isnt much Microsoft or any company can do to make it easier to browse the web with a screen that small

and always remember, it is still a pda, not designed to be a video player or a laptop replacement

I would find it hard to replace my laptop with something that can fit in your palm.

I think the only thing that comes close is the OQO.

but you cant really compare to the u50 or u70 because they pretty much are laptops, considering they run windows xp

So what does the OQO run? I thought it was also XP. According to www.oqo.com it runs full blown XP just like the u50, u70, and the Flipstart.
