I had the dim/screen problem with my X30 and had to return it, then got the screen that was kind of yellowish, and returned that. However, they did ship both to me overnight and stuck by it and I am still happy with my X30 purchase, I just accept it as somethign that happened with the first batches and you cant beat the price.

Like someone said, people only came here for two reasons, one because like me believe in community forums and the other looking for a solution solving a problem.

I have an Inspiron 8000, bought back in June 2001, three years ago, if you go to the Dell Community (Dell Forum) you will find a lot of horror stories, in the 3 years my only problem was with the HD, and DELL responded as expected with a world class service.

Now I have an Axim X30 mid, I have had it for 2 weeks with no problems... Everybody buying a piece of technology top of the line (the first PDA using the newest Intel Processor and with the newest Operating System) may be prepared to experience some bugs, you dont want bugs??? go and buy and Axim X5 or an Ipaq 19xx...

But, for every single person here with a problem, there are many many without any single problem.

Good luck to all

EDIT: I'm very happy with my axim, and as always you cant beat DELL in price...

I ordered my X30 High the first day they were available, and assume mine came from the first batch. It is my first PDA.

I was very happy with it until I started reading other posts on this forum. I read about dim screens and realized my screen was too dim. I read about low speaker volume, and realized my volume was too low.

I was going to call Dell and ask for an exchange but then decided on a little test. A friend who has the X5 and is very happy with his agreed to help. He's had his for over a year with no problems with screen brightness or volume.

So we did a side-by-side comparison using the same photo and mp3. Guess what, my screen was just fine -- a hair dimmer but actually with crisper resolution. The sound was a hair lower in volume but seemed richer on the same headphones.

Now I'm real happy with my Ax. No return necessary.

I am not trying to say that others who posted here with problems were imagining them -- I'm sure their issues were very real and hopefully rectified. I'm only saying to potential buyers that its easy to get swayed by those reports.

IMHO its a great PDA, give it a try.

My X30 High has a few problems - the screen sensitivity problem (though like others, I'm getting used to it, and don't notice it nearly as much any more), and a stuck pixel. Brightness and whiteness seem to be fine. Dell has shipped a replacement with ABSOLUTELY NO HASSLES, I'm expecting it in the next couple of days.

I did have to call and ask them to ship the sync cable separately. But I'd already gotten a retractable sync cable from Brando so I wasn't too upset. I haven't been able to sync over Wifi yet, but to be honest I haven't really tried since the first couple of days I got it.

Even after all that though, I gotta say I think this is a pretty cool little unit, even if before this I considered myself a diehard Palm user and Microsoft hater. Even if I wasn't getting a replacement, I would still be pretty happy with the purchase.
