With all of the horror stories floating around about the dim screen problem, sensitivity issue, screen brightness, and more, should i stay away from the x30? All of the stuff going around is scaring me. I was planning on getting the x30 mid but now I dont know what to do. Even though dell has such a low price, i dont know if it's worth the trouble going through getting replacements and all. Am I wrong? What should I do?
Dont forget generally people only come here when they have horror stories, there's people out there that have had good experiences, they just dont generally go out and post about them.
I have an X30 and I love it, and have not really had any
major problems at all.

I heard all kind of "horror stories" about the X5 and the X3i before and after I bought them.
Some of the stories ended up being the result of "user error." Other's were the result of some minor glitches from Microsoft and/or Dell. Some were the result of really anal maniacs (no offense intended--this sometimes describes me), who wouldn't settle for less than perfection.
In my experience, both of my Dell's have been great machines. No regrets and both are still humming along.
Don't ignore the threads, as some stories/issues might be serious and problematic. But, in my opinion, take most with a grain of salt.
And, I've found Dell to be pretty quick to replace a defective unit if still within the warranty period.
I'd love an X30 High if I could afford/justify it! Good luck!
Only one I have is that I agree what people only really come here when they have a problem. People get very upset when stuff doesnt work like they want / hope / should so they do something about it.
I have purchased the X5 from Dell, I have purchased the X3 from Dell and just recently purchased the X30 High. I have not had any problems with any of them. I am pleased with my X30. In fact I have never had to send any of mine back for replacements. Now maybe I am lucky, but I do use it everyday at work and have many add on programs running as well as GPS. Nothing but success. I would recommend getting the X30 unless you really want the CF card slot. Then the X5 is a great choice also.
I was just like you before getting a mid X30 for hubby. I had read all the horror stories and kept wondering if I should or shouldn't get one. Well, I thought about how it had been the same way before I got my husband his Zire 71 and myself a Tungsten E; I had also read horror stories on all those forums. But I ended up taking a chance on all three devices and have had no problems at all with any of them. Keep in mind that if you do happen to get one that has problems, Dell will replace it. But you might not have any problems at all. You'll never know unless you go for it! This is a great device with a lot of features for such a great price! I hope that all those who got one with problems are having much luck with getting good replacement models! It always makes me feel bad when I read about people who get handhelds with problems. And I feel guilty when mine don't have any of the problems. I know I shouldn't but I do. Anyway, good luck on whatever you decide!!!!
I haven't heard anyone having anymore of the problems that were happening in the first batch of X30s.
I say we make a thread about everyone who has no problems with there X30. I only has the sensitivity issue on mine but now that i have used it awhile i don't even noticed it or if it is still there, lol.
Even if you get a problem was exchange it for one that works but once you get one that is good then it is so worth it for the money you save.
I purchased all 3 when brand new (X5,X3,and now an X30mid) I have not had any problems with any of the units. The two problems I did have were, the X3 sync cable went bad , and no sync cable shipped with the X30. Other than that no problems.
Go for it! The x30 is a great little device. I'm pretty sure usee error accounts for 99.9% of the horror story threads. It's my opinion that people would rather complain than admit their expectations were higher than the company ever claimed and God forbid someone actually reading the manual before asking for help. Just my 2 cents.
Don't Panic!

Love my X5adv, love my X30 high. Do not let the naysayers get to you. Threads are like polls, there is a high probability that those who reply have either bias' or are very opinionated. I have posted more here since the X30 release than I ever did with my X5. And most of my posts have been in praise. Try it you'll like it....LOL
