ActiveSync Woes

I've searched the site (and the web) looking for an answer to this...

I have an X3i that I connect to a PC running MS XP. Loaded the ActiveSync software, dropped the X3i in the cradle, and went thru the normal setup & first sync. All is well.

Then I take the X3i out of the cradle, off to a meeting, return, and drop it back in the cradle. AS 'connects', the green thing spins, and nothing happens.

I've learned that I need to either kill AS on the PPC before I recradle it, or warm reset the thing, otherwise AS never links up.

After a 'kill' of AS, a dock & sync, I then have to kill AS to sync again.. in other words, AS will detect the changes, sync once, then croak.

Any ideas?

Axim X3i & MS XP w/ AS v3.7.1

looks like you have the current version of AS. could you have something else running that would cause a conflict?

do this...restart your computer and then go into task manager and close everything you don't need running. then start up activsync and try to sync. if it does it just fine you may have another program giving you trouble. you can then start you other programs one or two at a time and try to sync again until you find the problem software.

Sync woes fixed - thnx Contributor

I was having problems sync'ing with my laptop - would start then say there was an error in communication between my Axim X3 and my computer (can't remember the exact message).

I tried rebooting and reconnecting, etc a million times - turns out that

****all I had to do was remove all other usb devices so that the only usb connected to my laptop was the cradle - worked!

THANKS "Contributor" for the idea!!

(didn't have to go through task manager and end programs but your suggestion gave me the idea that there may be conflict between the all the USBs (COM) ports being used.
