MAC Address and SD Slowness
Guys,
I'm setting up some software on a friends X30. She just bought it and really knows nothing about it. I tried the wireless at home and it connects to my router with no problems. At school to log into the network you need to give the admin your MAC address. Does anyone know where to find it? I have looked in the system information screen and it shows UUID (whatever that is) numbers both of which are 16 digits long. Any MAC address I have seen is 12 digits long. Any ideas, as she would like to use it in school?
It really is a neat PDA. I have an Ipaq 2210 which I use a CF wireless card which works great but it means pulling out my 512 CF card. I like the way Dell intigrated the wireless.
One thing that I have noticed with the Dell (both an X3 and this X30) is that the SD card is really slow compared to my Ipaq and CF card. I have installed a couple of medical programs on all 3 PDAs and when I access the program on the Ipaq, the screens of info come up instantly. On both Dells there is a noticable delay. In fact at first I thought the units had locked up. Both cards are 128Meg. One is a Toshiba and the other is a Viking. This is the only downside I have found so far. I don't know if it is because both SD cards are slow or the Dell I/O is slower than the Ipaq.
Thanks
Pete
