Well - after having Dell say it's not going to happen, and then recanting and saying that it will - my guess would be - as often as someone asks, until such time as it is released.

Oh - feel free to skip threads with this and similar titles - looks like you could use a little less stress - unless of course, you're intrested in seeing if anyone has any new word on the release.

Dell never acually said they will, they did recant and say they would reconsider. I am getting mixed feelings personally.

Has everyone forgotten how much crap Dell went through with the upgrade process to 2003? What a nightmare that was for Dell as well as all the people looking for upgrades. I'd think Dell would be better off just passing on a code upgrade this minor. The only really important thing in it is the landscape mode. They'd be better off just getting someone to write a reliable landscaping app for the X5 & X3 and giving it away.

That said, I'd still love to get my hands on a 2003 second edition upgrade. I'm just not holding my breath. Personally, I'd be surprised if the X5s get any more love out of Dell.

I think it would be a good idea for Dell to iniitially offer "landscape mode" in an small, easy upgrade-- FREE for people who just want to have that added feature and spend some time working out the bugs in a full SE upgrade release.

Sorry, but I have to agree with Routermike in regards to the X5... might not see an upgrade... crap, the X3/X3i might not even get an upgrade. :(

I'd say what they need is better testers.

YV/MV - Landscape I can do without - WPA is what I'm interested in.

Dell Rollie came back today and said that he still has not idea as to the staus of an upgrade. He mentioned that he has absolutely no information. That's not a good sign . . .

That's not entirely true that it's not a good sign. It could mean any one of a number of things, from he's not allowed to say anything, to Dell doesn't trust him.

Mad WM 2003 SE

It's been well over a month with "No Official Word" from Dell on this upgrade for X3 users.

The official word must be: don't comment and it will go away.

Let's face it, the next generation pocket pc will have VGA (a must for some) and Hey! it was only $300 for the X3i you bought anyway so get the new one with the up to date software.

I won't believe any more crap about upgradable pocket pc's from Dell in the future.
