"As I understand it there is a card that can be plugged into a High Speed wall jack too. Isn't there? Most hotels I stay at (plug for Marriott) have free high speed. That would solve the lap top is out of order scenario. Anyone has any good leads on this topic?"

The only thing I've seen along these lines is small WiFi access box (size of deck of cards) that will plug into the high speed (10/100) jack in hotel rooms. The price on one I remember was around $50, but I do not remember the site/thread. Try searching using google and at pocketpcthoughts.com and brighthand.com. There are few threads discussing these boxes there.

In addition, there are CF to high speed plug in devices, but no SD equivalents, so these are no good for X30 users.

For now your options are - BT to cell phone, BT to BT dial-up connection, WiFi to WiFi box connected to hi-speed access hotel plug. The WiFi is free at most hotels, so just need to pay for the box, the BT dial-up is free if you have AOL or Earthlink and local access numbers, the BT or data cable to cell phone may be free (for example if you have T-Mobile and can live with limited ports), but in general cell phone data access is pretty slow OR very expensive.
