Greetings Fellow Aximers! :D Just encountered an unusual problem with ActiveSync. I have a Axim X3i and a Dell Inspirion notebook. Syncing has worked great right from the get-go, even this morning. However, this evening when I attempt to sync wirelessly, the ActiveSync box on the Inspiron shows "Connected" but the Axim shows "Connecting" and never connects! I cradled the Axim and used the USB cable to try to sync to the Inspiron; however, both devices show "Connected" but never sync! :rolling: I have tried soft reset, re-installing ActiveSync on the Inspiron...??? I haven't done a Hard Reset because I haven't backed up my data. Not sure that would make a difference??? Any ideas, suggestions, comments??? Thanks!
Thanks, Gigi, for the reply! I completely deleted ActiveSync from my PC which, I assume, would have deleted the partnership as well. I then reinstalled ActiveSync from the Dell Companion CD. I have been reading various Forums and discovered something that I have may done: I recently installed a utility called MemMaid which is like Pocket Mechanic and can clean up the memory and other files. I think I have deleted the Notifications or something like that. One guy posted in a Microsoft NG for PocketPCs that he did that using Pocket Mechanic and had to do a Hard Reset. Do you know anything about this? Thanks for your help! :D

Good point, Rick. I guess I wasn't thinking. And yes, it's possible that you deleted something that you really needed. Both MemMaid and SKTools (another cleaner app) are quite new and constantly being upgraded.
Well, decided to go ahead with a Hard Reset! :crooked: Backed up all my data to the SD card. The Hard Reset well great and am restoring the data right now! So...praying that solves the sync problem! Will post back with results! Thanks!

Dear Sir,
Losing the ability to sync means you manually removed an entry from the notification queue.
replog.exe to start when an rs232 connection happens
removing this will prevent ActiveSync from running whenever you connect your PocketPc through serial/USB connection.
MemMaid will never delete this entry while cleanning, you can only delete this entry manually from the notification queue tab.
We'll add a warnning in there asing the user not to delete anything manually unless he knows exactly what he is deleting.

I AM THAT GUY LOL!! :D MrKlaatu, the monkey pic please!!
Yep, I would hard reset, it would work for a while, then I'd run Pocket Mechanic and manually delete the notifications, then I would be SOL!!! I learned the hard way . . .
Greetings, Wooch! :D Sorry I couldn't remember that unique name! I did remember you had problems and used the Hard Reset. It's a drag to have to do that but at least I am thankful for the option! I apparently did the same thing using MemMaid, as the above post indicated it was MY MISTAKE and not a problem with MemMaid which is actually a great utility! The Hard Reset got me going again, though, I still had to reconfigure all my settings, eg for wireless connectivity, email, passwords etc etc! Plus I had to set up ActiveSync all over again, completely uninstalling it from the PC and reinstalling and setting up a new partnership and more! But, alas, I am back syncing both USB and wirelessly!
Yes, MemMaid and Pocket Mechanic have a nasty habit of deleting things that your Axim winds up needing.
I first used Pocket Mechanic to clean out a ton of stuff, then some of my programs stopped working.
I switched to MemMaid and allowed it to clear out my Avantgo Cache-- now Avantgo won't work! I even reset my Axim to a date BEFORE I ever installed MemMaid but Avantgo is still not working right. My next resort is to do a full Hard Reset... not looking forward to it, but I might have to since nothing I can do including tons of Restores to ealier times isn't having any effect and I really need Avantgo back...
Be careful of these "cleaner" programs.

Wow,
This is very strange, lots of our customers are using the cleaner for AvantGo without problems.
What version of MemMaid are you using ? (about dialog, bottom-right hand corner)

I have to step in and defend both MemMaid and Pocket Mechanic. The problem you are having is not resultant from scanning and cleaning with either of these apps. I clean my AG cache with both of them without incident. I ran into this when the AG cache was on my SD card, but it has to do with the way AG is configured, NOT the cleaning utilities. I've been clearing my AG cache for 2 months now with no issue.
AG can be a real PITA!!! It makes matters worse when you are installing a newer version over a version that is integrated into the ROM.
