Anyone have the WiFi Power Management Registry Hack?

I searched and All I could find is the utility that does it for you. I just got a registry editor and I would like to do it myself.

I already did the Cleartype hack now I just need the WiFi Hack.

Thanks.

You mean the one made by our very own silentknight? If so, it's here: http://sknight.aximsite.com/ppcproj.html

Yeah, but I was looking for the actual steps to do it with a registry editor. Just like.......

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\ClearTypeSettings]
"OffOnRotation"=1
Change "OffOnRotation" to equal 0 for the hack.

...........For the Cleartype.

This registry value disables x30 wifi power management:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\WLAGS46b1\Parms

"PMEnabled"=0

Soft-reset to load the new setting. There is another value labeled "PowerMode" but changing it doesn't seem to affect performance.

WM2003 SE is defaulted to disable clear type when
you rotate the screen, that hack enables clear type on
rotation... Typically MS should of made it a setting accessible
by any user but they left it out...

Cleartype it self just 'smooths' out fonts
to make them easier to read ... for some people...

Not everyone likes cleartype.

When I turned on my spangly new X30 High, the first thing I noticed was how BLURRY the screen was. Little did I know that by default that Cleartype is turned ON in 2003 SE. I immediately turned it off and am much happier. Cleartype is like running 75hz on a TFT display that is only designed for 60hz. That's the kind of blurring it is to me... yuck!

X30 Registry?

I am loving this thread, but can someone tell me how to get to the registry of my X30? Do I need a 3rd party app? (Please say it's freeware...)

Yes, you need 3rd party software. I use Advanced Explorer. I got it from Handango and it's on sale for $2 right now.

You can also check www.freewareppc.com for free registry editors but I've never tried them.

heelixx: Thanks for the hack.. I thought it fixed the problem and made it possible to switch from the options tab like it should. Sounds like this hack only turns it on or off after a reset.

No problem.. I always like digging into the registry and experimenting - I've probably soft-reset this thing fifty times in the past week. lol. Btw, I use PHM Regedit and it works great.

Some routers only connect properly if power management is disabled, ..such as mine.

I can obtain an IP address and ping sucessfully, but
nothing works like websites, and MSN messenger unless
I have power management disabled.
