[Q] Why do alarm events drain my battery so?

I've discovered that if I allow any kind of alarm event to be enabled, my Axim will almost completely drain it's battery in a day or so. Note that this is AFTER I set it to automatically shut itself off after 30 sec of inactivity when on battery (1 min on AC), and AFTER I turned it OFF.

Why can't it go back to sleep after an alarm event?

what i did is turned the option to display message on screen off. It now only chimes and flashes the power light.
