Cannot install AXIM software on Win XP

The setup file will not execute on my PC using WIN XP. I have tried it on another PC that has WIN XP and it loaded fine. ANy suggestions as to what could be wrong? I plan to try system file checker, and lavasoft adware, but any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Bob

Did you connect your Axim before your computer asked you too? Do you have SP1 installed?

I followed the instructions. The base unit was NOT connected. I have Win XP SP1 installed and running good.

Don't know what to tell you then. I have SP1 and followed the directions as well and it went off without a hitch. Maybe someone else can step up and help.

I just want to clarify - it is the Active Sync software you are having trouble installing?

If you are referring to the AS install, and it hangs around the 92% mark, just let it go for a while. I run into this as well, and it just needs time to complete.

Thank you everyone. Thanks to your input, I think there is a problem with my OS. I will pursue this avenue of attack. Thank you again.

I had the same problem loading AS to WinXP. I disabled the firewall and then it loaded just fine. ???

One other thought, have you deleted the contents of both your c:\windows\temp folder and the c:\Documents and Settings\profile\Local Settings\Temp folders? These folders getting cluttered up and have an impact on system performance and installations.
