NF 3.2 was announced within the last month but not available yet. In landscape, the URL bar in NF is too big. I found that if you start NF in portrait, then switch to landscape, it's a lot better.

Cool. I hope they offer a free upgrade to 3.1 users when it is availible, I can't see how they wouldn't. I'll keep the landscape suggestion in mind when I use DotPocket.

NetFtont hasn't got a trial version? Funny, I've seen their trial version availabl on Handango and PocketGear for a couple of years. Runs with limited options for 45 days.

As far as I know the trial version is still available on those two sites-- my 45 day trial just ended. I am torn between liking/disliking NF. If it would just let me consistently check webmail it would be worth the hassle. I hope the new version makes it more reliable in that regard.

I don't use it for webmail. HTTPmail does such a fine job with processing Hotmail, including attachments, right in the Microsoft Inbox program that there is no need for going to mobile MSN. The author assures me that the automated login HTTPmail uses will keep my free Hotmail account active, so there will never be any need to see that lame site again. Of course not all webmail will work, I guess.

I've had no trouble at all using NetFront to access my credit union account, where PIE craps out because my banking site became Java-driven about a year ago. NetFront also deals nicely with PayPal, something PIE just won't do, at least not the PPC2002 version.

I still use PIE as my default browser, as NetFront is indeed far too awkward for everyday use. I hate the full minute startup time just to get the thing to open from SD. And in general it does slow my X5 Advance by perhaps 30% in general performance, no matter how few other apps I'm running. I can soft reset, drag the memory slider over to free 40MB of Program Memory and leave only 10MB for storage, open NetFront, and still the responses to screen taps for things as simple at Start Menu take noticably longer. So I use it for secure sites and open it to go places PIE chokes on, pasting in the URL as I go. Favorites in NetFront open too slowly for me ever to bother. I like the open in new window requestors when pop-ups try to grab focus, something IE6 seems unable to offer. Just say no to pop-ups! In PIE I use MultiIE to enhance browsing, and it does add in a host of features which even ftxPBrowser can't offer. Unfortunately it has two serious bugs, relating to saving pages and images (around half the time it just fails, or saves garbage), and it sometimes locks up the device if I get too fast in page-switching or switch-and-scroll actions. So long as I don't go too fast, MultiIE and PIE are still better for most browsing.
