Crossfire? is that the one with the Mouth of the South James Carvilee ( i hate what he stands for, but he is good for a laugh)? or is that inside politics (oops sorry didnt mean to bring that up) none the less i guess you have become political at a young age which is good no matter your political ideology, that is what makes out system work

Give CoursePro a try. There's a summer sale going on and right now you can get it at almost half the price of other student planners.

Yes it is, and the "all american" patriot who enjoys leaking names of US operatives, Bob Novak, who just can't seem to understand why people may have a problem with Cheney running the white house with Bush as his puppet when neither of them were even elected to the position. :rolling:

I'm an entering Freshmen at USC and just got my first Dell Axim X30. I thought it would be good to share some programs, uses, tips, and other things that make the Axim X30 so perfect for school.
I had been using a Handspring Visor for the last 4 years in high school but it was impossible to not upgrade when I found out how wonderful the Axim X30 is and how reasonably it is being priced.
Now that I have my contacts all converted I am getting used to the new schedule and task interface so I can keep track of my class assignments and business on the X30.
At USC there is wifi virtually everywhere so I have been brainstorming for ways to take advantage of this. Primarily having it set up to sync on the fly and get my email is obvious, but I also want to have easy access to media on my desktop machine while on the go such as video, music and assignments (documents). I found RESCO explorer to be very useful for browsing local networks and managing my files. For playing the media GSPlayer worked best for any kind of music that I'd be using and it is free! PocketTV works very well for movies that windows media player can't handle.
I have a TV tuner card in my desktop computer and have it set to record my favorite tv shows like CrossFire and save them in a pocketpc format that ends up being about 32 megs per episode that I can then download onto my 512mb SD card or watch over the network.
I may set up a streaming shoutcast server to listen to my mp3s with some web interface to control currently playing items, any advice in this area would be welcome.
Some other useful programs I have installed are:
Pocket Streets - So I don't get lost in LA.
PDAWin TV Remote - Incase I need to control the tv in the dorm lounge ;)
For entertainment I found Warfare Incorporated to be very addicting this game is almost exactly like Command and Conquer and has a great interface and good graphics on the pocketpc.
I plan on using my Axim as a replacement for my old Rio MP3 player with the streaming music and storage on the 512mb card. Anyone have good headphone recommendations that are small and portable yet have good sound?
Having all these many uses lead me to order a 2000mah extended battery so that I won't miss a beat all day. Great deals on ebay for these.
Anyone else taking their Axim to college? What are you doing with it that is cool/helpful?
Thanks!

I'm a junior, electrical engineering major, at USC. One application that has come in handy with use on my x30H is Electrical Reference with Motors for PPC. Sometimes I use it for linear design of circuits and circuit theory (of course it's not a crutch, but it comes in handy).
During my longer breaks, when just waiting around and doing homework in the library just gets pretty unbearable, I use my x30 to surf the web and watch movies/tv shows converted from home; it really takes your mind off the time. I'm involved with several student organizations at school and my schedule gets pretty hectic--so my PPC really helps to keep me on track. I recommend getting on to any college student; it may prove even more useful to the commuter who has nowhere to go between class breaks. :approve:

I wish these things had been around earlier in my education. I finally purchased my X5 in the beginning of my senior year. Before that I used a paper organizer which was quite bulky and of course much heavier than the lovely X5.
Now the X30 is much more functional with the wifi and BT. I would suggest VO Calendar by voscorp. You can make your calendar more functional. Icons instead of triangles and squares. Here is the link:

One additional piece of software that is critical to have at USC is Movian VPN client. This will allow you to connect to the internet through the USC wireless network.

That's kind of funny considering that our community college offers wireless if you pay a quaterly $32 computer lab fee. The coverage on the campus is about 90%. I am sure they had problems covering the building because the wall is made from cement, rock, and brick. That is a pain from my own experiance, wireless does not like going through dense materials.

As a matter of fact, Radio Shack has a set of Titanium Stereo headphones for about $50 that have great sound and are lightweight and comfortable to wear for extended periods. Good luck in school

School. Ahh, my wellspring, my bane.
I'm a Senior Business student in South Dakota, hanging on for my MBA. We have very, VERY limited Wi-Fi access, but it is access nonetheless.
I used to have a Stowaway keyboard for an HP Jornada, and it worked just fantastic for taking notes in all my classes. Not only that, but I agree... something must break the monotony of 3 hr block lectures!
