October X30H Backlog Bogus?

Hello,

I ordered my X30H on August 3rd. No extras, no upgrades. Approximate ship date of August 17 has changed, from initial date of Aug 18th. Concerned with some of the posts I've seen regarding October ship dates for X30H's I chatted online with a Dell rep today (Patrick, I could not cut and paste the chat window) and specifically asked him if there is now a delay until October. He said there is no such delay, and in fact many X30H's are shipping early.

???

Thanks.

Jim

Yes, I hope so. I've learned the virtue of patience in my old age (33), but darn it, I want my shiny little toy! The pessimist in me is still waiting for the "major delay" email or call though.

Thanks for the welcome. Looking forward to ditching the old VIIx for the X30H.

I ordered my Axim X30 High July 26th, and received it August 4th. I ordered it with the 3 - 5 day shipping so it was free, and it didn't take any time at all to get here. I was sent an e-mail as to when it shipped. It has worked wonderfully, and I like it much better than my Zodiac2. Dell didn't leave anyting out of the box either, and it installed without so much as a single error. I may just be lucky, but I'm certainly no one special to Dell, and I got my unit pretty quick.

I ordered mine on July 28th with a Aug 6th ship date and the status is still showing "In Production". I called them Saturday Aug 7th and the rep told me there is a problem getting the processors and that my order will be delayed until October 14th. I ask him three times to make sure of the date. Why would the guy lie and then when I threatened to cancel he gave me a $50 shopping spree. I'm really sorry if I got anything started I'm just Jonesing for my Axim.

I had an axim x30M on order just for the BT Keyboard (at the time the only way to get the keyboard). Had a order date of 7/27 ship date of 7/28 and the 3 subsequent postponements last one was not before 8/16. I cancelled no offer of a $50 spree.

Sean, you didn't start anything. No sweat. Hope you receive your X30 much sooner.

Did you specify which territory you were enquiring about?

A look at various threads here, make me believe UK/Europe are not having much difficulty in shipping the X30H, but apart from a few (puzzling) rapid deliveries last week, the US seems to be plagued with delays/

Good point, I did not specify region, however I did have to give my customer number and order number. I recall the rep indicating US shipments were on time, and even running a bit ahead of schedule.

As of today my status is exactly the same. Ordered 08/03, still in production, projected ship date of 08/17.

Is there any reported difference between those orders placed online vs. calling the 1-800 number? I called mine in, as I had a 20% coupon and wanted to combine it with the online discount. Online system would not let me. 1-800 was not going to let me, until I said I'd get an HP through my employer. Funny how after about 2 minutes of hold time they combined the discounts.

Thanks.

Jim

You got 20% off of 10% off (Still a good deal)
349.00-10%=314.10
314.10-20%=251.28

Ordered my X30H by phone (to get the 15% off offer with a quote given 3 days before) on 7/30 with a projected shipping date of 8/16 (however I now see that it has been kitted, built & tested)
so hopefully it should be here earlier.
