AOL wifi connection problems

I'm a new Axim x30 owner trying to hook up to my Linksys/AOL Broadband network. I've read so many threads pertaining to wifi hookup problems that my eyes are crossed, and I am still not able to figure this stuff out. I was finally able to ping my Linksys router using the Odyssey wireless connection (WLAN, Network Cards programs etc, all failed to get me that far), but that is as far as I can go. AOL won't hook me up the my network.

I'm running AOL 2.0.55 for PC2003, upgraded my linksys firmware to 1.50.14 (BEFW11S4 router), and installed that program on the aximsite to turn off wifi suspend mode. I am getting excellent connection to my network. What puzzles me is that the "AOL for PPC2003" that I bought from Handango doesn't offer a wireless connection option, only dial up & modem connection. I'd like to hear from those of you that are running AOL on your Axims about what programs you are running to connect to your wireless network. Am I missing a PDA program? I am currently typing this thread from my laptop on my patio with the same wireless connection that I am trying to setup for my PDA, so I know the connection works. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Jeff

I had the exact same setup. Tried for about 3 months to get my Clie UX50 to connect to no avail, even with the AOL software for Palm. I read on other boards that the problem was with AOL (no suprise). Dumped AOL, and just went with Roadrunner....everything worked flawlessly. Both Clie and Dell Axim were configured with DHCP and connect on the first try without and manual changes made. My suggestion: drop AOL.

This is the only other thing I've found. Use at your own risk:

Hmm Getting further with AOL / Linksys wireless connection

Even though I haven't yet been able to surf the net through my Axim x30 wireless connection, I have been making progress. Thanks for all the replies. I am not going to dump my AOL, so I WILL find a solution. Odyssey connection program has given me the most success, but my AOL 2.0.55 program is not talking to my linksys router. I'm in the process of learning all I can about wireless connections and setups. I found a table of PocketPC/CE drivers, and they list one for my router linksys. If if helps anyone else, check out this table of drivers and wireless links that have proven to work together:

I am using the TCP/IP setting in my AOL. I can use the pocket IE to get into my router setup through 198.162.1.1 but I can't browse the internet or go to the www.aol.com site like I can when I am using a free wifi hotspot like at Panera breads.

24vA: Are you refering to the check box under Settings/System/Power/Advanced/ battery power (dim if idle more then 5 min)?

I found that powersave and disabled it (off). After soft-reset I verified that it stayed off. Still no internet access.
