X30 Refuses to get IP Address from Access Point

I have an X30 that works quite well, including internet and email. But if I disable the 802.11b wireless (to save battery power) and enable it again, it refuses to receive an IP address from my Netgear access point. In order to correct this I have to go to network troubleshooting and hit repair and then only the X30 accept the IP address. If I turn off X30 while wireless is enabled and turn it on later it retains the IP address it had earlier and works fine. I have checked my access point and it's working perfectly. (my wireless notebook has no problem getting the IP address). Does anyone else have this problem or anyone knows a solution to this? Appreciate help very much.

Sometimes it helps to turn off the axim and turn it back on. Think that usually refreshes it.. of course im still using ppc2002.. but you can hope that works still.

Ranil,

I had the same problems with my wife's x5 and my x30. Sometimes the only way you can fix this problem is with a firmware upgrade or driver upgrade for your NIC or router. If there isn't an upgrade availabe, you may be out of luck. It may not be your problem or something you can fix at all.

I had the problem for months until linksys simply released a new firmware version for my router and the problem was instantly fixed after the upgrade.

If it seems like you've done everything you can to fix it, maybe you literally have.

I have the same problem using D-Link 614+ wifi router despite latest firmware upgrade - I have to disable/reenable wireless connection and manually repair address every time X30 goes into hibernation...

I am considering buying new router hardware - any suggestions for system that is compatible??

Now that they're stopping production on them - the Microsoft Wireles G stuff is going on sale all over the place. Target, Office Max / Depot etc.
I picked mine up for $40.
Works perfectly with the Axim, another laptop I have, plus 3 wired PC's.
