Question How to store applications on SD cards ?

Hello,

I recently purchased a X30 with WiFi&BT (624MHz) and started loading some applications in the default directory. I noticed that 'program memory' and 'storage memory' are filling up rather quickly.
I was planning to use multiple SD cards to store MP3 and data files.

My questions are:
1) What is the best way to load/store applications on SD cards ?
2) Can I have the same application(s) stored on multple SD cards, thus I can easily switch between them but still have access to all applications ?
3) What kind of application are recommended to keep on internal memory ?

Thanks.

you'll have to choose "NO" when you ge the "do you want to install in default location" message. Then hit the drop down button and select (SD card). Now SW will run from there.

I have 90% of my apps on my SD card. Works just fine.

1) There are two ways really. The first is when you install the program and the pop up screen asks you to install into the default location, click no, then select storage card or built-in storage. The second way is if it's a simple program like one .exe file or a few files and it doesn't want to install into storage, you can just cut and paste the program onto storage then delete the origional link in MyDevice>Windows>Start Menu>Programs and create a new link to the program you just moved. I just did this with Advanced Explorer, Pocket Mechanic and Dava Picture Viewer and I saved a few MBs and they run perfectly.

2) That should be fine with simple programs because the link will still be to the Storage Card. Just remember that some programs have settings and other files that stay on the card so if you change it, you'll lose the settings and the files.

3) You actually have 3 storage locations on your Axim, Main memory, Built-in Storage, and your storage card. Some programs must be installed in main memory, like SPB Pocket Plus, the more programs stored in main memory, the less program memory you have to run applications (as you have found out). I put every program I can in built in memory and I keep my music, pics, videos, and backup data on my storage card. I have about 15 apps (not all listed in my sig yet) and I am only using 9MB on my built in storage and I have 48MB free for main memory or RAM.

Hope this helps.
