Hi, i'm a little confused now!! I've been storing all my installed programs to the "default" location on my Axim and all my documents stored onto my SD card. Is the "default" location the RAM or Rom? I thought it was RAM as I was reading you shouldn't rewrite/modify the ROM as it has a limited amount that that can be done.
AHHH!! that sucks for me! so that means if i ever have to hard start my X30 I will loose all the programs and settings installed!! How do i move programs from RAM to ROM, do i have to delete and reinstall each app?
Max ROM writes = approx. 100 000 times
if you write/delete 1 file an hour, every day, you will need to replace that part of the ROM in around 4160 days or 11 years.
LOL! I don't plan on having my Axim X3i for 11 years so it doesn't matter to me. I install 99% of all my programs to ROM. The only thing I put on RAM are Today Screen Plug-ins or any programd that demands that it be installed to the "Default Location" in order to work properly.
So far, it works for me. :approve:

what about program like Adobe Acrobat, Skype, Sbp plus? I should unistall these and then put them into the ROM? Now main memory is the ROM and Storage memory is the ROM?

Main memory =RAM
Built-in-storage = ROM
I would put Spb on Main memory since there is a Today component. Skype and Adobe should be fine anywhere. I personally have Skype on m SD card.
Also keep in mind that regardless of where you install your programs, you will most likely have to reinstall them following a hard reset because registry changes and shortcuts are stored in main memory. That's why it's a good idea to make backups.
Is the BIS faster than a fast SD card ? The BIS seems to be large
enough to hold most of the programs I want to install - but if SD
is faster I would like to install it there ?

From all reports, BIS seems to be slower than SD and Main Memory, with Main Memory being the fastest.
