No, OEM systems can't be overclocked, there are no cpu voltage, multiplier, or fsb options in the bios. Sorry.

Just trying to be helpful... Not intending to burn/flame :)

Operating systems are not overclocked, hardware (procesor and memory)is. This overclocking can be doen through software or manually. Of course, PDAs can only be overclocked througgh software. There are no accessible jumpers or switches on pdas (to my knowledge).

I don't think he was asking if you could OC an OS, but maybe I'm wrong...he was asking if his dell computer could be OCed...

Oh....

In that case, I seem to recall having overclocked a compaq computer (a friend's pc) through a utility that had to be downloaded through compaq's customer service download area. The utility was also necessary on configuring an oversized hard drive (present bios could not detect drive). Perhaps utilities available for the dell. However, MY best guess is that you would have to set the jumpers or switches maually on the Dell.

I am not too familiar with commercial pcs (I only use ones I have built myself - RELIABLE :) )but now that you mention it, I believe that bus and multipier settings were not available in the bios of the compaq. My Asus motherboard however did include these settings in its bios.

OEM systems have a locked down bios that does not have OCing options. Most newer mobos (including the ones dell uses) do not have fsb jumpers on them...and all newer intel procs (the ones dell uses) are superlocked, so multi changing isn't even an option.

Yeah, I had a dell and tried to overclock it with no luck, overclocking it wouldn't be a good idea anyways, because the cooling they provide hardly fits the needs of the stock processor.
