Start menu/top bar hidden after closing program

After reinstalling my X30 I am having some problems with the start menu and top bar... After closing programs that fill the whole screen the Start text is displayed right along the left side of the screen. Running a program that does not fill the whole screen e.g. notepad makes the start button reappear. This problem is quite annoying as I can not press start without running another program first.

If running uBook and pressing a hardware button to get to the today screen the whole start bar is hidden by the top of the uBook window while the rest of the today screen appears...

Have any of you experienced anything similar?
