Will X50 Bump X30 Owners?
First time to post. Getting ready to leap from a Handspring Visor Deluxe to a Axim. I can see myself waiting to see what the X50 is really going to be--features, appearance, cost, etc.
Do current X30 owners think they might consider selling their X30 and moving to an X50?

No. My X30 is on the way as I just ordered it. I was aware of teh X50, but i did not want to deal with long wait times due to demand just to have a gfx chip and VGA.

I won't upgrade either. The incremental adds in features is just not worth the cost.

Sold my X30H
I sold my X30 High... Personally, I think that the VGA upgrade is more significant than a processor upgrade... just imagine the additional content you'll be see when web-browsing, using acrobat, or using applications that requires a lot of details (I have to scroll all over when reading any acrobat files). As much as I want the x50, I think I'll wait for the first batch of comments though. If the product is a complete bomb, I'll re-purchase the X30 High - by that time, the X30 price would have dropped due to the x50 (maybe not much, but still some savings). Either way, I'm glad I sold the x30H when I did. One thing about the X30 that I hate, the directional pad stink for emulator games, especially the action games. Hope they fix that for the x50!

The only ones who might upgrade are those who purchased the X30 Basic, and after some use, decided they wanted to do more with their PPC (like WiFi, Bluetooth, etc...)
For me, the only advantage the X50 has over my X30 mid is the amount of installed memory (128mb  ) I have yet to be convinced that a VGA screen is T H A T much better then the QVGA screen on the X30.
I do wish the X30 had a CF slot though I don't have much use for WiFi / Bluetooth, but a CF Modem card would have been perfect.

nope, unless it is the same price or <50 difference. X50 is more then likely going to be slower, going to be heavier and bigger. CF slot doesn't interest me as the only thing it would really be used for it memory and 1GB with SD cards is more then enough memory for me. VGA support is a plus but 240x320 resolution is more then enough and most apps will not take advantage of the VGA display. Biggest difference is the 128MB ram if it ends up having that but i always have 40MBs free ram so it is more then enough to run lots of programs at one time.

If you plan to re-purchase your X30, you may be resorting to resources such as eBay when it comes time. Dell has a reputation of killing off old models quickly. When the X50 actually makes its debut, I will not be surprised if, 30 days later, they are no longer offing new X30s. They will shell off its existing stock of 30s with 20% discounts, and the like.
It is believable to me, that Dell would make a cheaper X50 by giving it a QVGA screen, a low end proc, and decreased ram, rather than trying to keep the X30 alive.
As for the original question: Once the X50 does come out, I will list my X30 on eBay for a price near what I purchased it for. If I have to, I will pay an additional $100 difference for the upgrade. BTW, check my signature, that'll tell you how new my X30 is.

Considering they're still selling the X3i and the X5 I dont think they'll be abandoning the X30 anytime soon. The X50 is an upgraded X5, so they might bump the X5 as they're part of the same pda lineup. The X30 is safe, at least until the X300 or whatever.

At this point I have no intention of ditching my Axim for the X50, simply does everything I need it to do and more, with the amount of money I have spent on accessories selling it would mean a big hit in the old pocket and besides by the time my axim is obsolete so to will the X50, and no one for sure knows when the X50s will actually make their appearance or at what price ... but thats my opinion , everyone will make up their own mind and buy or not, but me? happy with my Axim and looking forward to a long and productive life with it at my side.......

Nope, I'm keeping my X30 High until a device is released with Windows Mobile 2005... It seems so close yet so far. Plus, my X30 does everything I need right now. I want a VGA screen but I'm willing to wait for Direct X.

Girlfriend will get my x30 for GPS around christmas time if the x50 is still looking like a good choice. Wish it has a 4" screen though.

Where is the X5 still for sale guys? If you're buying one from Dell, it ain't new. They've got refurbs, and they've got old stock. Its no longer fresh, no longer new, no longer being produced. If you can debunk this for me, I'd like to see it with a US link.
