Installing HP Printing problems...

Recently I received my X30 high and had made the decision to get a printer for field use. I ended up snagging a BJC80 off of Ebay. Great deal too.

Today it arrived. I have no clue about the printer BUT...

After installing HP Mobile Printing, I try to tap on the icon and I get "File not found" followed by the name of the file, HP something .exe etc. (Sorry to be vague, I am not at my desk at work, I am home and heading back to get my X30). Then I notice that in ActiveSync on my desktop there is another program called "HP Mobile Printing System Installer" that does NOT have a check by it. So I click the check and click ok...to which my X30 spits back to me that it could not be loaded, please reinstall setup.exe.

Please help if you can.

I had a similar problem, just uninstall what you have and try this.

When you installed it on your computer in programs files under HP Mobile Printing you'll see CABs, take the ones for your corresponding handheld, theres a CAB for the actual program and another CAB for the print manager, I put on both.

If you install those it should be fine, also if you don't know how to install cabs, it's easy just copy the file to your pocket pc and execute it from your file explorer and it should install fine.

Try installing the one meant for WM2003 NOT WM2003SE.

First, thanks for the reply. I saw that you had asked a similar question, but was not sure if it applied.

There are 3 cab files in my folder. Transferring them now. I will see what I can do as far as order is concerned.

Thanks again

Actually, this was the suggestion made by another member (can't recall who) but it worked, so hopefully it will also work for you.

Alright. This is where I am.

The program installed fine, with the usual, "This was made for an earlier version of Windows, la de da de da".

But I am getting an "Internal Error" when try to print. Please advise.

I'm sorry as after everything was installed I had no difficultys, did you set up the printer your printing too before you printed?

Also could you please clarify "earlier version of windows", is that on the pocket pc or the desktop? There are versions for Pocket PC 2003 as well as Pocket PC 2002, I'm trusting you got the right download correct?

I do beileive that would be Wooch (He deserves all the credit)

I had a different problem then this, if you do a search you'll see that after installing I wasn't even able to sync and I had to hard reset then do the CAB installation under Woochs advice.

This is the standard message you get whenever installing software on SE. It happens even if a program was updated for SE. YOu can just disregard this.

I did disregard the message. Now I am getting an "Internal Error" when I go to VIEW in the Print Manager and view the error when trying to print the file which is converted from Calendar to a file under /temp/****.rtf

It is not "popping up" with the Internal Error message. It just says that the printer could not print the job. Then I try to VIEW why...and that is where the error is.

This is on X30 High using 2003SE Mobile, with HP Mobile Printing for Win2003 installed. (Win2003SE would NOT install no matter HOW I did it, installing via ActiveSync or via CAB files copied to the X30).

I got this utility to work with my X5 and X3i but have yet to get it to work with my X30H. (I haven't been trying hard though.) Have you disabled your firewall, and checked your file paths? That's all I can think of right now... :rolling:

Paths are fine and the firewall does not prevent it from getting to the X30. It goes through the "file installation" on my X30, and then gives me the error that I have to re-run setup. But this is only with trying to install the HP Mobile Printing 2003SE.

I am running HP Mobile Printing 2003 (not the SE) and it seems to be fine. I am getting an INTERNAL ERROR when trying to print. This MAY be the printer. That is all I am trying to establish,is:

Is this a X30 issue OR
A Printer issue.

Sounds like an X30 issue because of the INTERNAL error. But I am new to this so that is just a guess.

Thanks,

Jon

I also got the exact same results, but then I found out I was not able to access the server where the printer was installed. So I just connected another machine in the same domain thru fileexplorer so it would ask me for authentication, then went back to the print server and voilá... it is printing fine on my old LaserJet4L.
Now I am at work and tried a networked LexmarkE323 using the generic HP Laserjet setting and it works too.
So I guess botton line is, check the permissions for the printer you are trying to use.
